Overview

Qinqiao Xiaodu is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preparation developed by the Beijing Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine). It is a specialized hospital preparation primarily indicated for the treatment of influenza and acute upper respiratory tract infections characterized by symptoms such as fever, sore throat, and cough. The formula is composed of several medicinal herbs, most notably *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huangqin) and *Forsythia suspensa* (Lianqiao), from which the name is derived. It functions by clearing heat and detoxifying the body, exhibiting broad-spectrum antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. It has been utilized significantly in clinical practice in Beijing for managing viral respiratory diseases, including during major outbreaks such as H1N1 and COVID-19.
