Overview
Qinwei Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) candidate developed by the Sichuan Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The formulation is primarily composed of extracts from *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huang Qin) and *Cynanchum atratum* (Bai Wei), designed to address the pathological patterns of damp-heat and blood stasis in the liver. Mechanistically, the drug has been shown to regulate lipid metabolism and alleviate hepatic inflammation by activating the SIRT1/AMPK signaling pathway and inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome. Clinical studies in China, including Phase II trials, have evaluated its efficacy in reducing liver fat content and improving biochemical markers such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in patients with NASH.
