QIVe

QIVe is an egg-based quadrivalent influenza vaccine designed to prevent test-confirmed influenza. It is manufactured using a traditional process where influenza viruses are grown in fertilized chicken eggs. This vaccine targets four different influenza virus strains. Studies frequently compare its effectiveness to cell-based quadrivalent influenza vaccines (QIVc) and adjuvanted or high-dose quadrivalent influenza vaccines (aQIV/HD-QIV). A notable characteristic is that egg adaptation during the manufacturing process can sometimes reduce its effectiveness compared to cell-based alternatives. QIVe is indicated for use in various age groups, including children and adults, for seasonal influenza prevention.
