Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qiwei Fangji Huangqi Granules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound formulation, typically presented as granules for oral administration. The formula is based on the classical prescription "Fangji Huangqi Tang," which originates from the ancient medical text "Jin Gui Yao Lue." The canonical composition includes Stephania tetrandra (Fangji), Astragalus membranaceus (Huangqi), Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Zhi Gancao, honey-fried licorice root), and Atractylodes macrocephala (Baizhu). Sometimes fresh ginger and jujube are added during preparation. This combination aims to promote diuresis, reduce edema, tonify qi, and strengthen the spleen. It is primarily used for conditions characterized by difficult urination, qi deficiency with water retention/edema, chronic nephritis-related edema, cardiac edema, nutritional or pregnancy-related swelling, and chronic rheumatic disorders in TCM practice[1]. The mechanism of action involves multiple herbal components working synergistically to regulate fluid metabolism and enhance immune function according to TCM theory.
