Overview
Qixue Bingzhi (also referred to as Qi-Xue-Bing-Zhi) is a multi-component Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation investigated for its potential therapeutic effects in cardiovascular diseases. The recipe is primarily studied for its ability to inhibit the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), a critical factor in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and vascular restenosis. Research has identified several key active components within its effective fractions, including paeoniflorin, naringin, and neohesperidin. The pharmacological mechanism is thought to involve the downregulation of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and its corresponding receptor (PDGFR) gene expression, thereby modulating cellular signaling pathways associated with vascular remodeling.
