Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qixue Bingzhi Formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal compound developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is specifically designed to treat coronary heart disease (CHD) complicated by psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression, a clinical intersection often referred to as "psycho-cardiology." The formula is based on the TCM principle of "treating both Qi and Blood" (Qixue Bingzhi) to restore physiological and psychological homeostasis. Pharmacological studies suggest that the formula exerts its therapeutic effects through a multi-target mechanism, including the improvement of myocardial ischemia, reduction of systemic inflammatory cytokines (such as TNF-α and IL-6), and modulation of central neurotransmitter systems (including serotonin and dopamine) to alleviate mood symptoms. It is typically administered as an oral granule or decoction and has been evaluated in clinical trials for patients with stable angina and post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) distress.
