Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qizhi Tongfeng Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Fangshan Hospital Affiliated to Beijing University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of refractory chronic gout. The formulation is designed to address the complex pathology of chronic gouty arthritis, particularly in patients who do not respond well to standard urate-lowering therapies. Its therapeutic effects include lowering serum uric acid levels and providing anti-inflammatory relief. Mechanistically, it is thought to inhibit xanthine oxidase activity and modulate the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), which is a key driver of gouty inflammation. The drug is currently utilized within the hospital's clinical practice and has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to further establish its efficacy and safety profile.
