Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qizhi Tongluo (Qi Zhi Tong Luo) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulation composed of 26 different herbs. It is primarily used as an adjunct therapy for the sequelae of apoplexy (stroke), including symptoms such as hemiplegia, limb numbness, facial paralysis, language impairment, and trouble walking. The capsule has also been studied for its potential efficacy in treating vascular cognitive impairment and memory loss. Its mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but is believed to involve tonifying qi (vital energy), promoting blood circulation, and unblocking meridians according to traditional Chinese medicine theory. Chemical analysis has identified over 100 constituents including flavones, saponins, salvianolic acids, butylphthalides, anthraquinones, monoterpenoid glycosides, caffeoyl-quinic acids, coumarins, alkaloids and stilbenes[1][2][4]. Clinical studies have evaluated its safety and efficacy in improving cognitive function in patients with mild cognitive impairment related to vascular causes[1].
