Overview

QLG2128 is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis who are at high risk of fracture. It is described as an abaloparatide injection, suggesting that it is either a biosimilar or a new formulation of abaloparatide, a synthetic analog of human parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) that acts as an anabolic (bone-building) agent. The mechanism of action for abaloparatide involves selective activation of the parathyroid hormone 1 receptor (PTH1R), which stimulates bone formation and increases bone mineral density. QLG2128 is currently being evaluated in phase III clinical trials in comparison to teriparatide, another anabolic osteoporosis therapy[1][2][4][5].
