Overview

QLM2012 is an investigational small molecule TAAR1 (Trace Amine-Associated Receptor 1) agonist being developed by Qilu Pharmaceutical for the treatment of schizophrenia. Unlike traditional antipsychotics that primarily target dopamine D2 receptors, TAAR1 agonists represent a novel mechanism of action that may provide efficacy in treating both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia while minimizing common side effects such as extrapyramidal symptoms and weight gain. As of early 2025, the drug is in Phase 1 clinical development in China, with studies evaluating its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and patients with schizophrenia. It is classified as a Class 1 innovative drug under Chinese regulatory standards.
