Drug intelligence / Profile preview
QLM2019 is a long-acting dual agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) receptors, currently under development by Qilu Pharmaceutical for the treatment of obesity and overweight. By simultaneously activating both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, the drug aims to achieve superior weight loss and metabolic regulation compared to single-target GLP-1 receptor agonists. The dual-action mechanism works by enhancing insulin secretion, suppressing glucagon release, slowing gastric emptying, and increasing energy expenditure while promoting satiety. As of 2024, QLM2019 is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy in overweight or obese individuals.
