Overview

QP-031 is a proprietary therapeutic peptide being developed by Quthero to treat cardiac injury and heart failure by modulating the innate immune response after myocardial infarction. Preclinical data in rodent models of myocardial infarction indicate that QP-031 shifts macrophages from a pro-inflammatory to a regenerative phenotype, leading to improved cardiac function, reduced fibrosis, and enhanced myocardial perfusion when assessed by cardiac MRI.[2] Earlier work by the same group used an angiopoietin‑1–derived “Q‑peptide” (QHREDGS) conjugated to hydrogels to promote pro‑healing, anti‑fibrotic, and pro‑angiogenic responses in dermal and cardiac tissues, and the company has since reformulated this biology into a chemically redeveloped, stable peptide administered by subcutaneous injection.[1][2] QP-031 is currently in preclinical development, with planned advancement into large-animal myocardial infarction models, GMP manufacturing, and eventual first‑in‑human trials for acute coronary syndrome and heart failure.[2]
