Drug intelligence / Profile preview
QP001 is a novel intravenous formulation of meloxicam, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) designed for the management of moderate to severe postoperative pain. Unlike traditional meloxicam formulations, QP001 uses polyethylene glycol (PEG) and a pH regulator to improve solubility and enable rapid onset when administered intravenously. Its mechanism of action involves selective inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever. Clinical studies have demonstrated that preemptive administration of QP001 provides effective analgesia and significantly reduces opioid consumption after abdominal surgery while maintaining a favorable safety profile[1][6][2]. The most common adverse reactions are mild to moderate gastrointestinal or systemic symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or fever[2]. Developed primarily by Nanjing Qingpu Biotechnology Co., Ltd., QP001 is being evaluated in clinical trials in China for its efficacy and safety in postoperative pain management[3][4].
