Overview

QR060 is a small molecule drug candidate being developed by Createrna Development for the treatment of chronic pain and chronic cough. Currently in the IND-enabling stage, QR060 is designed to act as an antagonist of the P2X3 receptor. P2X3 receptors are ATP-gated ion channels primarily expressed on peripheral sensory neurons (nociceptors); their activation by extracellular ATP released during tissue injury, inflammation, or irritation triggers the transmission of pain and the induction of the cough reflex. By selectively blocking these receptors, QR060 aims to alleviate hypersensitivity in patients suffering from refractory chronic cough and various chronic pain conditions. It serves as a follow-up or complementary candidate to Createrna's more advanced P2X3 antagonist, QR059.
