Overview

QR060127 is a potent and selective small molecule antagonist of the P2X3 receptor, developed by Wuhan Langlai Pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic cough. P2X3 receptors are ATP-gated ion channels primarily expressed on sensory neurons, including the vagus nerve fibers that innervate the airways. In conditions such as refractory chronic cough (RCC) or unexplained chronic cough (UCC), excessive ATP release in the airways triggers these receptors, leading to hypersensitivity of the cough reflex. By blocking P2X3 receptors, QR060127 aims to reduce the frequency and severity of coughing episodes. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its efficacy and safety in patients with refractory chronic cough.
