Overview

QRX007 is a bifunctional protein drug candidate that was designed to inhibit the activity of two skin-specific serine proteases, **kallikrein 5 (KLK5)** and **kallikrein 7 (KLK7)**. The primary clinical indication under development was **Netherton Syndrome**, a rare genetic skin disorder characterized by excessive skin shedding and impaired barrier function. QRX007’s proposed mechanism centered on directly inhibiting these proteases to counteract the hyperactivity of skin kallikreins and address the underlying pathology of Netherton Syndrome. QRX007 was developed as a complementary program to QRX003 by Quoin Pharmaceuticals, with research collaboration from Queensland University of Technology. In 2025, all development was discontinued to focus resources elsewhere[2][5].
