Overview
Qu Feng Zhi Tong is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, specifically indicated for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Formulated to address the TCM syndrome of wind-cold-dampness (Bi syndrome), the preparation typically consists of a blend of herbal extracts including *Radix Angelicae Pubescentis*, *Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae*, and *Cortex Eucommiae*. Pharmacologically, Qu Feng Zhi Tong exerts anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF). Additionally, it has been shown to modulate matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), thereby reducing the degradation of articular cartilage and improving joint function in patients with degenerative joint diseases.
