Overview
Quadracel is a combination vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur for active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and poliomyelitis. It is specifically indicated for use as a fifth dose in the DTaP series and a fourth or fifth dose in the IPV series for children aged 4 through 6 years whose previous doses were with specific DTaP-containing vaccines (such as Pentacel, Daptacel, or Vaxelis). The vaccine is a sterile suspension containing diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis antigens (pertussis toxoid, filamentous haemagglutinin, pertactin, and fimbriae types 2 and 3), and inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3, all adsorbed onto an aluminum phosphate adjuvant. Quadracel is designed to simplify the vaccination schedule by reducing the number of injections required during the preschool booster visit.
