Overview

The quadrivalent influenza subunit vaccine is a prophylactic biologic developed by Jiangsu Zhonghui Yuantong Biotechnology to provide active immunization against seasonal influenza. Unlike traditional split-virion vaccines, this subunit formulation is highly purified to contain primarily the surface antigens—hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA)—from four distinct influenza strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). By excluding internal viral proteins and lipids, subunit vaccines aim to reduce reactogenicity and the incidence of adverse events while maintaining robust immunogenicity. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection and has been evaluated in clinical trials for safety and efficacy in individuals aged 6 months and older, receiving approval in China for the prevention of influenza.
