The quadrivalent influenza virus split vaccine developed by the Shanghai Institute of Biological Products (SIBP) is an inactivated, split-virion vaccine designed for the prevention of seasonal influenza. It contains hemagglutinin antigens from four distinct influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). By targeting the hemagglutinin protein, the vaccine induces the production of neutralizing antibodies that prevent viral entry into host cells. It is typically administered via intramuscular injection and has been evaluated in various pediatric populations, including children aged 6 months to 8 years, to ensure safety and immunogenicity across different dosing regimens.
