Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Quadrivalent Lactobacillus live vaginal capsule (KAL-001) is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) developed by Sichuan Anaerobio Technology for the treatment and prevention of recurrent bacterial vaginosis (BV). The formulation contains four distinct strains of live *Lactobacillus* species, which are the dominant beneficial bacteria in a healthy vaginal ecosystem. Following antibiotic induction therapy, the capsule is administered intravaginally to re-establish a protective microbial environment, produce lactic acid to maintain a low pH, and inhibit the colonization of pathogenic anaerobic bacteria. It is currently undergoing Phase III clinical evaluation in China.
