Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Quadrivalent Lactobacillus vaginal live capsule is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) developed by Sichuan Anaerobic Biotechnology Co., Ltd. for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV). It is an intravaginal capsule containing four specific strains of live Lactobacillus bacteria. The therapy is designed to restore a healthy vaginal microbiome, which is typically dominated by Lactobacillus species in healthy individuals. By reintroducing these beneficial bacteria, the product helps maintain an acidic vaginal environment through the production of lactic acid, thereby inhibiting the overgrowth of anaerobic pathogens such as Gardnerella vaginalis. It also produces antimicrobial compounds like hydrogen peroxide and competes with pathogens for epithelial adhesion. The drug is currently undergoing Phase II clinical evaluation in China.
