Overview

The quadrivalent recombinant norovirus vaccine is a virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine developed by Grand Sevax Life Sciences (a subsidiary of Grand Pharma). It is produced using a *Hansenula polymorpha* (Hansen yeast) expression system and targets four major norovirus genotypes: GII.2, GII.4, GII.6, and GII.17. The vaccine is composed of recombinant VP1 capsid proteins from these genotypes, which self-assemble into non-infectious VLPs that mimic the structure of the native virus to elicit a protective immune response. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China for the prevention of acute gastroenteritis caused by norovirus infection in individuals aged 6 months and older.
