A quadrivalent split-virion influenza vaccine developed by Changchun Changsheng Biotechnology. It is designed to provide active immunization against four different strains of the influenza virus: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). The vaccine is produced by chemically disrupting (splitting) the influenza virus, which reduces reactogenicity while maintaining the immunogenicity of the viral proteins, primarily hemagglutinin. This specific candidate was evaluated in Phase III clinical trials in China, particularly in pediatric populations aged 6 months to 3 years. However, the developer, Changchun Changsheng Biotechnology, was involved in a major vaccine manufacturing scandal in 2018, leading to the revocation of its production licenses and subsequent bankruptcy, which effectively halted the development and commercialization of its vaccine pipeline.
