Quentiv

KD-370 (Quentiv) is a pentavalent combination vaccine developed by KM Biologics (a subsidiary of Meiji Holdings, which acquired the vaccine business of The Chemo-Sero-Therapeutic Research Institute, or Kaketsuken). It is designed for the active immunization of infants and children against five major infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis (polio), and invasive infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). The vaccine formulation combines diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis components (including pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, pertactin, and fimbriae), Sabin-strain inactivated poliovirus (sIPV) types 1, 2, and 3, and Hib capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. Administered via subcutaneous injection, KD-370 was approved in Japan in March 2023, simplifying the pediatric immunization schedule by reducing the number of required injections compared to separate quadrivalent and Hib vaccinations.
