Overview

Quercitrin is a naturally occurring glycoside formed from the flavonoid quercetin and the deoxy sugar rhamnose. It is classified as a flavonoid glycoside and can be found in various plants such as Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum), North American white oak (Quercus alba), English oak (Quercus robur), Nymphaea odorata and Taxillus kaempferi[8][10]. Quercitrin has been investigated primarily as a dietary supplement due to its antioxidant properties. In the body or in vitro via enzymatic hydrolysis by quercitrinase it yields L-rhamnose and quercetin[8]. Its mechanism of action is believed to be related to its antioxidant activity—scavenging free radicals—and potential anti-inflammatory effects through modulation of cellular signaling pathways associated with oxidative stress. There are no approved pharmaceutical indications for quercitrin; most research focuses on its role as an antioxidant or dietary supplement.
