Overview

Quercus gambelii pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the Gambel Oak tree (Quercus gambelii). It is manufactured by Greer Laboratories and marketed under the brand name Arizona Gambel Oak Pollen. [2] This product is used for both the diagnosis of allergies through skin testing and as a form of immunotherapy to treat individuals with confirmed sensitivity to Gambel Oak pollen. [2] The therapeutic mechanism of action involves specific immunotherapy, which modulates the patient's immune response to the allergen. This desensitization process leads to an increase in antigen-specific IgG antibodies, which can act as blocking antibodies, and a concurrent decrease in the production of allergen-specific IgE, thereby reducing the symptoms of the allergic condition. [2] It is a non-standardized biologic product administered by physicians via percutaneous, intradermal, or subcutaneous injection. [2, 3]
