Overview

Quercus rubra pollen extract is a biological allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the Northern Red Oak tree. It is primarily utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of immediate hypersensitivity (Type I) allergic reactions. As a diagnostic tool, it is used in skin testing (percutaneous or intradermal) to identify patients with IgE-mediated sensitivity to red oak allergens. Therapeutically, it is employed in allergen immunotherapy (subcutaneous injection) to desensitize patients by inducing immunological tolerance. The extract contains various proteins and glycoproteins that act as allergens, triggering the immune system to produce specific IgE antibodies in sensitized individuals.
