Quercus velutina pollen extract is a biological allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the black oak tree (*Quercus velutina*). It is primarily used for the diagnosis and treatment of Type I immediate hypersensitivity allergies to oak pollen. As a diagnostic agent, it is employed in skin testing (percutaneous or intradermal) to identify patients sensitized to oak allergens by eliciting a localized wheal-and-flare reaction. Therapeutically, it is used in allergen immunotherapy (subcutaneous) to induce immunological tolerance. The extract contains a complex mixture of proteins that interact with allergen-specific IgE antibodies. It is manufactured by specialized companies such as Greer Laboratories and is often available as a single-species extract or as a component of multi-species oak pollen mixes.
