quetmolimab

**Quetmolimab** is a humanized monoclonal antibody that acts as a first-in-class antagonist of fractalkine (CX3CL1), a chemokine involved in leukocyte chemotaxis and adhesion by binding to its receptor CX3CR1 on monocytes and macrophages. Developed initially by KAN Research Institute and advanced by Eisai Co Ltd (with EA Pharma involvement in later stages), it inhibits the CX3CL1-CX3CR1 axis to reduce immune cell recruitment and inflammation. It reached Phase 2 trials primarily for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Crohn's disease, and primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), but showed mixed efficacy results (e.g., modest activity in RA subsets, no clear benefit in some endpoints) and was discontinued across indications due to business priorities.[1][3][7]
