Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qufeng Gutong gel paste is a topical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Wang Jing Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS). It is specifically indicated for the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain associated with knee osteoarthritis, particularly in patients diagnosed with the wind-cold-dampness arthralgia TCM syndrome. The formulation is a modern gel-based cataplasm designed to improve drug absorption and skin compatibility compared to traditional black plasters. It functions by expelling wind, dissipating cold, and promoting blood circulation to relieve pain and inflammation in the joints. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 4 observational studies in China to assess its real-world effectiveness and safety.
