Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qufengzhitong capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). As a hospital-made preparation (hospital-internal medicine), it is designed based on TCM principles to "expel wind, remove dampness, and relieve pain," addressing the "Wind-Cold-Dampness" pattern typically associated with arthritic conditions. The formulation is often used as an adjunctive therapy alongside conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) such as methotrexate. Clinical studies, including a Phase 4 multicenter trial in China, have evaluated its efficacy in improving ACR response rates and reducing systemic inflammatory markers like C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) in adult patients with active RA.
