quinapril + losartan

Quinapril + losartan is a combination of two antihypertensive agents, each with a distinct mechanism of action. Quinapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that works by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure[1][7]. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents angiotensin II from binding to its receptors on blood vessels, also resulting in vasodilation and lower blood pressure[3][6]. The combination aims for more comprehensive inhibition of the renin-angiotensin system than either agent alone. This dual blockade may provide enhanced suppression of cardiac sympathetic activity and greater antihypertensive effects compared to monotherapy[5]. Both drugs are primarily indicated for the treatment of hypertension; quinapril may also be used in heart failure.
