Quinospan

Quinospan is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic developed and marketed by Gypto Pharma, an Egyptian pharmaceutical company. It contains the active ingredient levofloxacin, a small molecule that acts as a potent antibacterial agent. Quinospan is primarily indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including lower respiratory tract infections, acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and bronchopulmonary infections caused by susceptible gram-negative bacteria. The drug exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, which are essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. It is formulated for oral administration, typically as a 500 mg film-coated tablet.
