quixil

Quixil is a first-generation fibrin sealant used as a supportive treatment in surgery when standard surgical techniques are insufficient to improve haemostasis. It contains two main components—human clottable protein (fibrinogen and fibronectin) and human thrombin—as well as tranexamic acid and calcium chloride. The product is applied topically, either dripped or sprayed onto tissue, to promote clot formation and control bleeding during surgical procedures. The mechanism of action involves mimicking the final steps of the coagulation cascade, resulting in the formation of a stable fibrin clot at the site of application. Quixil was developed by Omrix Biopharmaceuticals S.A., Belgium[2].
