Quji Tongluo is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Eye Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is primarily used for the treatment of retinal vascular diseases, specifically macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) or branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). The formula is designed based on the TCM principles of removing blood stasis ("Quji") and dredging the collaterals ("Tongluo") to improve retinal circulation and reduce edema. It is often studied as an adjunctive oral therapy alongside anti-VEGF agents like ranibizumab to enhance therapeutic outcomes in patients with retinal vein occlusion.
