Qurs e Fishar

Qurs e Fishar is a traditional Unani herbal medication developed by Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Pakistan for the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension. The primary active component of the formulation is derived from *Rauwolfia serpentina* (Indian Snakeroot), which contains a variety of alkaloids, most notably reserpine. These alkaloids act as antihypertensive agents by depleting stores of catecholamines, such as norepinephrine, from peripheral sympathetic nerve endings and the central nervous system. This action is mediated through the irreversible inhibition of the vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT), which prevents the storage of neurotransmitters in synaptic vesicles. The resulting reduction in sympathetic activity leads to a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance and heart rate. Qurs e Fishar is currently undergoing Phase III clinical trials in Pakistan to evaluate its safety and efficacy in hypertensive adults.
