quyushengxin

Quyushengxin (QYSX) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula being investigated for the treatment of mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis (UC). [1, 2] The formula is primarily composed of four herbs: Panax ginseng, Astragalus membranaceus, Pulsatilla chinensis, and Coptis chinensis. [2] Clinical studies have shown that Quyushengxin, both alone and in combination with mesalazine, can relieve clinical symptoms, suppress inflammation, and improve the quality of life for UC patients. [1] Its mechanism of action is believed to be multifactorial, involving the regulation of the gut microbiome and bacteriophages, restoring the balance of gut flora. [3] Research also suggests it works by modulating bile acid metabolism and promoting the polarization of macrophages from a pro-inflammatory M1 state to an anti-inflammatory M2 state, which helps reduce inflammation and promote tissue repair.
