Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Quzhuo Tongbi Formula (QZTB/QZTBD) is an empirical traditional Chinese medicine prescription used for the prevention and treatment of acute gouty arthritis. It has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects in animal models of gouty arthritis induced by monosodium urate (MSU) crystals. The formula suppresses ankle swelling and synovial inflammation, alleviates acute attacks, and may help prevent recurrent attacks. Its mechanism involves reducing mRNA and protein levels of NLRP3 inflammasome components as well as decreasing production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and TNF-α in affected joints[1][2][3]. Additionally, QZTBD has been shown to restore gut microbiota balance and promote the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which may contribute to its therapeutic effects[3]. The decoction is composed of multiple Chinese medicinal herbs.
