Overview

R-2487 is a synthetic biology-based oral immunotherapy developed by Rise Therapeutics for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, primarily rheumatoid arthritis. It functions as a targeted probiotic that induces the evolution of T regulatory (Treg) cells via a novel mechanism, aiming to reset Treg deficiencies and reduce inflammatory cytokines implicated in disease pathology. By modulating specific microbiome-associated immune pathways, R-2487 seeks to restore immune tolerance and intervene early in disease progression before severe tissue damage occurs. The drug leverages Rise Therapeutics’ proprietary oral biologics delivery platform and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren's syndrome[1][5][10].
