Overview
R1507 + carboplatin + etoposide is a combination therapy under clinical investigation for cancer, notably advanced solid tumors. It combines **R1507**, a fully human IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), with **carboplatin** and **etoposide**, both of which are cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents. R1507 works by binding to the extracellular domain of IGF-1R, leading to receptor internalization and degradation, thereby blocking IGF-mediated mitogenic and anti-apoptotic signaling. Carboplatin is a platinum-based compound that induces DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells, while etoposide inhibits topoisomerase II, preventing DNA unwinding necessary for replication and transcription.
