Drug intelligence / Profile preview
R2 is a topical, Lactokine-based skin care formulation developed by Water-Jel Technologies as the second component of a two-product system (R1 and R2) for the prophylactic treatment of acute radiation dermatitis (radiodermatitis). It is specifically indicated for use in patients undergoing radiotherapy or platinum-based chemoradiotherapy for cancers such as squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck and breast cancer. The active ingredient, Lactokine, consists of bioactive milk-derived proteins and peptides that aim to modulate the skin's inflammatory and repair response to radiation-induced injury. R2 is typically applied following the application of R1 to provide a protective barrier and support skin recovery, helping to maintain skin integrity and reduce the severity of radiodermatitis symptoms.
