Drug intelligence / Profile preview
R2R01 is a long-acting, single-chain peptide agonist of relaxin family peptide receptor 1 (RXFP1), currently in phase 2 clinical development for the treatment of worsening heart failure and hepatorenal syndrome with acute kidney injury. As a relaxin agonist, R2R01 mimics the effects of the natural hormone relaxin, which plays key roles in cardiovascular and renal physiology. Preclinical studies have shown that R2R01 increases renal blood flow and heart rate without evidence of tachyphylaxis, and it has an extended half-life compared to native relaxin. The drug is being developed by River 2 Renal for subcutaneous administration as a potential therapy for patients with serious cardiovascular or kidney conditions[1][3][4][6][7].
