Drug intelligence / Profile preview
R520A is an mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by Wuhan Recogen Biotechnology (a subsidiary of Jiangsu Recbio Technology) specifically designed to target the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant. The vaccine utilizes a proprietary lyophilization technology that allows for long-term storage and transport at standard refrigeration temperatures (2°C-8°C), addressing cold-chain logistics challenges associated with earlier mRNA vaccines. Preclinical studies demonstrated robust neutralizing antibody responses against the Omicron variant and cross-neutralization against the Delta variant. In June 2022, the vaccine received clinical trial approval from the Philippine Food and Drug Administration for evaluation in humans.
