Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**R8-liposome-BCG-CWS** is an investigational, non-live BCG-derived intravesical cancer immunotherapy formulation for bladder cancer. It encapsulates *Mycobacterium bovis* bacillus Calmette-Guérin cell wall skeleton in liposomes functionalized with octaarginine, a cell-penetrating peptide intended to improve intracellular delivery into urothelial tumor cells. In preclinical bladder-cancer models, it inhibited BBN-induced rat bladder carcinogenesis and increased expression of NKG2D ligands including MICB and ULBP1 on human bladder-cancer cells, increasing their susceptibility to lymphokine-activated killer-cell cytolysis.
