Overview

RA-1 is a novel peptoid designed from the hydrophobic stretch of the Amyloid-β42 (Aβ42) peptide, specifically the 16KLVFFA21 sequence. It is being investigated as a potential therapeutic lead for Alzheimer's disease. RA-1 functions by inhibiting the aggregation of toxic Aβ42 peptides, stabilizing microtubules, reducing the production of cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS), and promoting neurite outgrowth. In preclinical studies, it has demonstrated the ability to improve cognitive ability and memory impairment in animal models of dementia.
