RA0127 is a polymeric glycoconjugate developed by Remab Therapeutics for the prevention and treatment of Gram-negative bacterial infections, particularly in the context of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. The drug functions by selectively binding and removing circulating anti-αGal (Galα1-3Galβ1-4GlcNAcβ) antibodies. In humans, these natural antibodies can act as 'blocking antibodies' that inhibit the body's innate immune response to Gram-negative bacteria or even facilitate infection via antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE). By clearing these detrimental antibodies, RA0127 aims to restore the host's natural protective immunity against a broad spectrum of pathogens without the selective pressure that leads to antibiotic resistance. It is currently in preclinical development.
