RA10-6 is a DNA aptamer that specifically targets the interleukin-17 receptor A (IL-17RA). It functions as an antagonist by binding to the receptor and inhibiting the signaling pathway of interleukin-17A (IL-17A), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune arthropathies. In preclinical in vitro models, RA10-6 has demonstrated the ability to suppress IL-17A-induced secretion of inflammatory markers, such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and matrix metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13), in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) derived from patients with axial spondyloarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The aptamer is being investigated as a potential therapeutic alternative to monoclonal antibodies, offering potential advantages such as reduced immunogenicity and improved stability.
