Overview

*Rabdosia rubescens* (also known as *Isodon rubescens* or Dong Ling Cao) is a medicinal herb widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. Its primary bioactive constituent is the diterpenoid oridonin. In oncology, it is being investigated for its ability to reverse multidrug resistance (MDR) by downregulating MDR1 gene expression and P-glycoprotein (P-gp) levels. Clinical studies, such as those led by Xuanwu Hospital, are evaluating *Rabdosia rubescens* tablets in combination with azacitidine for the treatment of elderly patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), particularly focusing on patients with DNMT3A R882 mutations. It is also studied for the prevention of radiation-induced oral mucositis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients.
