Overview

This is a combination therapy used for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. The regimen combines multiple mechanisms of action to effectively eradicate H. pylori bacteria, which is a common cause of gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, and is associated with gastric cancer. The combination includes: - Rabeprazole: A proton pump inhibitor that reduces gastric acid production - Amoxicillin: A penicillin-type antibiotic that interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis - Tetracycline: A broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis - Furazolidone: A nitrofuran antibacterial agent that also has monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) properties - Colloidal bismuth pectin: A bismuth compound that provides a protective coating in the stomach and has antimicrobial properties This combination represents a modified bismuth quadruple therapy approach for H. pylori eradication, particularly useful in areas with high antibiotic resistance rates.
